Flydubai Airlines is a low-cost airline based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It started operation in 2009 and is owned by the Government of Dubai. Its head office is at Terminal 2 of the Dubai Airport and flight operations also take place from this terminal. The airline flies to 120 destinations in 52 countries across Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

It is the second largest low-cost airline operating out of Dubai Airport. The sister airline, Emirates Group helped the airline initially during the establishment phase. Since then the airline has been running independently.

The airline's fleet consists of the latest Boeing models. The fleet consists of 30 Next-generation Boeing 737-800, 46 Boeing 737 MAX 8 and 3 Boeing 737 MAX 9. It is the first airline in the Middle East to operate the Boeing 737-800 aircraft. 

The Boeing Next-generation 737-800 is a narrow-body aircraft and is powered by two jet engines. The Boeing 737 MAX is a narrow-body airliner with a more efficient engine. The different aircraft produce less noise and less pollution and are environmentally friendly. The Boeing 737-800 aircraft can carry 189 passengers, the Boeing 737 MAX 8 can carry 156 passengers and the Boeing 737 MAX 9 can carry 172 passengers. In 2013, the airline decided to offer business-class services on all its flights.

Flydubai Airlines Class of Travel

The airline offers two classes of travel on all its flights. The services provided vary depending on the type of Flydubai booking chosen. The different travel classes offered by the airline are as follows: 

Economy Class

This class provides seats that offer ergonomic comfort and ample legroom.

• The in-flight entertainment system offers the latest Hollywood and Bollywood movies, international movies, music, games and news.

• Passengers can pre-book or purchase snacks from the onboard menu.

• WiFi packages can be purchased onboard to stay connected during the flight.

Business Class

This class provides wide leather seats with generous reclining and adjustable leg rests. Seats can be converted to fully flat beds.

• The in-flight entertainment system offers the latest hit movies, TV shows and games. 

• Onboard WiFi is provided to help the passengers stay connected during the flight.

• Passengers can pre-book delicious meals and snacks from a selection.

Flydubai Airlines Baggage Allowance

The baggage allowance depends on the fare type. Depending on the fare type.

• Economy Class passengers can carry checked-in baggage of  20, 30 or 40 kg and a handbag of 7 kg. 

• Business Class passengers can carry 40 kg of checked-in baggage and a handbag of 14 kg. Passengers can check up to 3 pieces and the weight of each piece should not exceed 32 kg. The checked-in baggage should not exceed the maximum dimension of H + W + D = 165 cm.

Flydubai Airlines Web Check-in and Boarding Pass

Passengers can web check-in using the airline’s website or mobile check-in using the airline’s app. Go to the website, click the ‘Check-in’ option and enter the booking reference number and the last name. Now click the ‘Check-in’ button to online check-in. Flydubai web check-in is available 48 hours to 75 minutes before the flight departure. Checking using the mobile app is recommended as it offers real-time updates like gate changes and boarding announcements via notifications. 

During the Flydubai online check-in, passengers can select a seat, add baggage, upgrade to Business class and more. At the airport, the baggage can be dropped off at the Bag Drop Desk.

Flydubai Airlines In-flight Services

The in-flight entertainment system offers a wide selection of popular movies. TV shows, games, news and more. Passengers can pre-book meals and snacks or buy onboard. Special meals and children's meals can be pre-booked. 

Complimentary hot and cold beverages are offered. WiFi packages can be bought onboard to stay connected. Passengers can select an aisle, window or extra legroom seat.

Flydubai Airlines Frequent Flyer Programme: Emirates Skywards

The airline offers a Frequent Flyer program called ‘Emirates Skywards’. Passengers can earn Skyward Miles and Tier Miles with every Flydubai flight. Miles can be spent on Flydubai, Emirates and the airline’s partners across the globe like hotel partners, airline parents, car rental partners and more. 

The different membership Tiers offered are Blue, Silver, Gold and Platinum. As the members move up the Tier status more and more rewards are offered.

Flydubai Airlines Onboard Support

The airline assists passengers with special needs like expectant mothers, passengers travelling with a restraint device and more. Passengers with mobility problems are provided with wheelchair assistance up the ramp, up the stairs and up to the cabin. Wheelchair assistance can be requested 48 hours before the scheduled flight departure.
